By using Microsoft Office 2007 we can develop the Geometry learning in the school. Microsoft Office 2007 be completed by SmartArt Graphic, so user can make many of graphic, make many kinds of two dimension shape or three dimension shape. We also can make animation and text as an explanation for that shape. The basic shape can be got in insert menu-shapes then will appearance some of the shape. To draw the object from SmartArt Graphic we can chose insert menu, then “SmartArt” then can be got the dialog boxes. We also can choose the color with choose “Design” and “change Colors”. We also can change the size of the shape by choose Format menu then choose “SmartArt Tool” and “Shapes”. To make three dimension shape we can use the Format Object (3-D Format pane). We must consider the base, height, length, and width. To give color, we use instruction “contours”.
By using many of facilities in Microsoft Office 200 program, we can develop media of geometry learning in Junior High School. Media of learning is the implication of the Competence Standard and Basic Competence like understanding the relation between line to line, line to angel, angel and angel, and to decide the its size, understanding the triangle and rectangular concepts, using Pythagoras theorem, decide the element, the part of circle and its size, understanding the properties of cube, prism, and its part, understanding congruent of plane and its application, and the last is understanding the cylinder, cone, sphere and its size.
The basic shape can be got by “Autoshapes” menu then choose “Drawing toolbars”. In this menu we can get the shape like triangle, square, hexagon, pentagon, and soon. The shape can be made by copying it and give colors, also can be made by rotate it (Free Rotate Tool).
Basic shape also can be developed to help the student in Junior High School study about triangle and rectangular. The kinds of triangle consider its angle is acute triangle (all of its angle is less than 90º), right triangle (one of the angle is 90º), and obtuse angle (one of the angel is more than 90º). By using their capability, the student can draw many kinds of triangle. The teacher can develop student’s capability by develop the student worksheet in make the models of triangle in many size.
We also can make the space by using “Autoshapes” menu from Microsoft Word Drawing Tools. To make a regular space, we can draw the shape of polygon and choose 3D. By choosing 3D, we can convert it to the space. We must have “Drawing program” in Microsoft Word 2007. To make a prism, we can choose the polygon then choose 3-D icon on “Drawing Toolbar”.
We also can decide volume and area of surface. It can be shown its picture and its explanation of the picture. After we convert the plane into space we can use textboxes to write the explanation of the picture, then give question about volume and area of surface.
By using Microsoft Office 2007, we also can transform the Geometry shape. The basic shape can be dragged without change its shape and its size by using “dragged”. Rotation also can be done by choosing “Rotation” icon. Reflection also can be done by using instruction “Rotate oar Flip”.
Using Microsoft Office 2007 can be done easy because this program available in all of computer. The capability to make the basic shape by using facilities in Microsoft Office 2007 can be developed to make a more complex shape like three dimension shape. By using Microsoft Office 2007 can give motivation to study the geometry, can do the investigation about geometry concepts, do the problem solving and can communicate the result to the other friends or teacher. So, can be conclude that by using Microsoft Office 2007 can make easier in learning about geometry.
