Asumsi Dasar Karakteristik Matematika, Subjek Didik dan Belajar Matematika Sebagai Dasar Pengembangan Kurikulum Matematika Berbasis Kompetensi di SMP

Planning and development of curriculum is the work that need a depth thinking to fulfill the suitable requisite. The development of Indonesian make the curriculum development must consider : education issue, the problem in education, variety of school, students capability and the pressure from the society. There are six principles that must be considered to develop mathematics syllabi based n competences : chance for all students, curriculum not only collection of the main topic of the subject but also can reflect the mathematics activity coheren, teaching learning of mathematics need an understanding about students need, apperception of the students and the teaching learning facilitate, chance for the students to learn mathematic actively to construct concept structure through their knowledge and their experiences, need an assessment, then use many kinds strategy and teaching learning method.
Characteristic of Mathematics :
1.search for patterns and relationship,
2.mathematics is a creative activity,
3.involving imagination,
4.intuition and discovery,
5.mathematics is a way of solving problems,
6.mathematics is a means of communicating information or ideas
Characteristic of Students :
  1. Cognitive development
Ebbut and Straker (1995: 60-75) give their opinion that to make the capability of the student can be developed optimally, assumption about the characteristic students and the implication are : the students will learn mathematic if they have motivation, they learn with their own ways, students learn mathematics individually or in group, the students need a context and the different condition when they learn mathematics.
  1. Affective development
Paul (1963: 519) said that attitude is the apperception of the students to act so that it is a regularly disposition that they have through their experiences.
  1. Psychomotor development
Psychomotor have the big influence to know the students capability in solve the problem. In this activity, students asked to demonstrate their capability to do physic activity like draw the triangle, circle, etc.
Implication for developing curriculum based on competences
This curriculum is designed in the process of learn mathematics, students can do search for patterns and relationship,  develop their creative activity, involving imagination, intuition and discovery, solving problems.
Consider the topic of the subject, so standard competency that must be reached by students is understanding and do account operation in solve problem, understand the characteristic of line, etc.
Experience and teaching learning process is the activity that must be done by the students to reach basic competences and the topic of subject. Developing the experience and the students activity is the essence of mathematics curriculum that based on competences. In this curriculum consist of characteristic of mathematics, students and learn mathematics.
