TO BE A GOOD MATHEMATIC TEACHER

A.  Introduction

Most of students think that mathematic is the difficult subject. Almost of the subject is abstract, it makes student become scary before they learn mathematics. The result of the National examination especially for mathematics subject show that the student’s capability in mathematics still under. This reality make all of the component start from the students, the teacher and the parents become anxious when the National examination will be done by the students.

B.  Content

The teaching learning process of mathematics is moved from time to time so that the teacher must use all of the facilities to make the teaching learning process of mathematics become enjoy and fun. Become a teacher or candidate of the teacher, especially for mathematics teacher, we must prepare all of the things that will be used when we teach our students. To achieve good teaching learning process we must manage all of the preparation like manage the lesson plan, apperception, various method of teaching, various media/ teaching aids, various interaction, small group discussion, students presentation, students worksheet and assessment. All of that, must be prepared well. 

We know that our students have the various characteristics and we must facilitate all of the students as well as we can. To reach the best teaching learning process of mathematics not only needed a smart teacher or a good teacher but also the method from the teacher also decide the success of teaching learning process.

There are some factors which affect the teaching learning process :

1.      Educational facilities

2.      Media / Teaching media

3.      Teaching aids

4.      Teaching methods

5.      Psychological aspect

6.      Context of teaching learning process (culture)

7.      Syllabi, lesson plan, students worksheet, assessment, teaching learning resources, paradigm from theories (theories from philosophy), all of them coming from curriculum

8.      Technology

As a mathematics teacher or candidate of mathematics teacher, we must change the students mindset about the image of mathematics. It is a globalization era, mathematic is easy if we can make a use all of the technology to learn more about mathematics. The teacher must have creativity to develop various method so that make the students are not bored in the teaching learning process. Make the handout or students worksheet must be developed. Now, most of the teacher is lazy to make the students worksheet, they only use the common book from the school. It is not enough to develop the capability of the students because the teacher is lazy, how about their students? Maybe the students are more lazy. The teacher can develop their creativity by finding references and concrete modal/ experience. References mean logic/ mind, from book, research, or publication. There are many references that can be found by the teacher from many sources.   

The important think if we want to be a good teacher especially for mathematics teacher, we must prepare all of the preparation as well as we can. Become a teacher is not easy, but it is needed a seriously think, self confidence and have the good attitude become a teacher that can be imitated by the students. Mathematics teacher, sometimes if we hear the word mathematics we always think they are smart. Teacher is a lofty profession because from the teacher we can express or prepare the next generation. The next generation depend on how the teacher educate them. So, the teacher is one of the factor that determine the students success in the future.

Developing era also emphasize every people to follow it. Technology is one of the developing form in this era. In this era, most of the people is moved by the technology. Technology is the important thing in this era. So that, to support the best teaching learning process based on technology we must compare the mathematics subject and technology. It is the good idea to make the students are not angry to learn mathematics. Because by using technology the students like play the game in mathematics but we must be careful in using the technology.

C.  Conclusion

Teacher is a good profession. Become a teacher is not easy so hat to be a good teacher we must prepare all of the preparation start from now. The preparation not only the preparation before the teaching learning process, but also preparation while the teaching learning process and after teaching learning process. Especially for mathematics teacher, they need more preparation because mathematics is the difficult subject. Because most of the subject is abstract and need more understanding. But if we actually want to be a good teacher, we can start all of preparation from this time. All of the teaching leaning process can be accorded with the developing era especially in developing technology. Because technology can help us to open our knowledge. Technology is the important think in this era. So, we can become a teacher by make a use the technology.
